Introduction
Because the DigiEye™ is compatible with IrDA and RC5 protocols it means that virtually every piece of household equipment you own can be controlled via the DigiEye. Remote control hand sets for Sky and cable systems are identical so DigiEye codes each transmission and thus prevents your neighbour from changing your channels accidentally.

How does it work?
Unlike conventional Infra-Red remote relay devices, which have been in existence for several years, the DigiEye uses technology unique to AEI. It is capable of processing faster and more complex IR digital codes. During the reception and processing of IR signals, a CPU in the transmitter captures and time compresses commands from your remote control. The CPU in the receiver will then un-compress the signal, utilising an advanced error checking system.

The CPU also adds a digital signature which overcomes one of the industries biggest problems - neighbours accidentally changing each others channels. This problem is becoming increasingly prolific as remote controls become unified across television providers.

Q: Is the DigiEye compatible with my NTL or Telewest Active Digital set top box?
A: Yes, the DigiEye is compatible with all UK cable set top boxes, (except the new Samsung silver cable box)

Q: I already own a different brand of videosender that does not work with my cable box. Can I use the DigiEye aswell so I can change cable channels?
A: Sometimes. You need to disable the remote extender features of your existing video sender.

Q: My neighbour also has a DigiEye or other remote control extender. Will he/she be able to change my channels?
A: No. Unique to the DigiEye is a digital signature (user adjustable) which means only matched sets will work together.

Q: What cable receivers use IrDA remote controls?
A: At the time of writing the following STBs utilised IrDA protocol: DITV1000, DITV2000, DI1003 and DI4001N. The DigiEye is fully compatible with these systems.

Q: Does the DigiEye send picture or sound?
A: No, you need a DigiSender in order to send pictures and sound.
